Domino Love

I love everything about this little nook of a room, the french doors, the botanical prints, the chairs, the fabric on the cushions... love at first sight

I love the bedding in this pic - the use of colour against all the different textures in white, it's so pretty and modern.

Black and white is always a fabulous idea. I love how it's used quite sparsely in the above pic, but with such impact. I love the splash of pink too.

Ooh, swoon. I can't wait for the day when my house will look half as stylish as all these great spaces.

Personal manifesto

I love inspiration boards and am currently gathering pieces to put one together, but I equally love this idea - the Personal Manifesto! The very talented Mark Pavey designed this. Isn't it fabulous! What would yours say?

Mine might say something along the lines of:

Relax - it's ok the house isn't clean

Worrying about something? Will it matter 12 months from now?

You are loved by a handsome very kind man, you are a very lucky girl!

Red lipstick is always a good idea

Do you what you love

Every day is a gift, savour each moment.

...

I don't know, something like that, but using more witty and inspiring words.

Personal manifesto found at mustard and sage.

When I have a baby...

I'm announcing it with style, which will hopefully involve letterpress and gorgeous graphics like the one above created by Mandate Press. I love it!

Happy Weekend Friends!

Hi Friends,

Hope you're having a great weekend. I was going to do some painting - but there may be another dust storm approaching.. and I'm not really going for any red earthy tones in my cream paint for our bedroom.

Lucky for me my lovely friend Mel gave me a call and we caught up and I lavished attention on her gorgeous baby Trent. On our way around the shops I found Roman Holiday on dvd - so excited!!

I'm due for a holiday at the moment (but I haven't got one planned yet) so I'm going to watch it and hopefully it will transport me back to when Ben and I were Italy last year. Plus, a bit of Audrey is good any time!

Have a good one

Needle felted birds

How gorgeous are these? These felted birds are made by the very talented Lauren Alane. The handmade creations are so popular that they sell out within minutes of being listed in her Etsy shop. To grab one, add you name to the mailing list and be quick to the shop when she lists them.

I don't know about you, but the love birds in the first pic is probably the cutest cake topper I've ever seen! If only I'd discovered this before I got married!! Surely I could decorate a cake with them on our anniversary??

Some weekend treasures

Hi Friends!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a great weekend - my Mum came over with these lovely treasures above (that I must clean) and she helped me with my curtains. Oh my goodness, they are so much work. I will post photo's when they're done.

I also went to my fave vintage store to check out the lamp I talked about earlier in the week - but it wasn't quite my taste. But I know it will go to a loving home.

Don't you love those silver trays in the photo above? Wouldn't they look fabulous with some dainty sandwiches on them?? And that little silver jug! I wish I could convey the squeals of excitement when I first unwrapped it. My grandma had such great taste.

I heart pink

first pic desiretoinspire; last 2 pics from weheart-it

Loving the pink in all these interiors (even if it's the fabulous girl in that gorgeous skirt).

Enjoy!

Happy Weekend!!

It could be Monday... But it's not - it's Friday. Enjoy Friends!!

PS. When would this ever be an appropriate party garland???

Desk chair

Oh my goodness! How much do these chairs match my desk (see post from earlier this week). Of course they'd be on the other side of the world (I guess everything is when you live in Australia).

Check out Paris Hotel Boutique for more.

I'm so excited about the weekend!!

Yes, I know it's only Thursday.. but Friday's fly by so quickly. Plus I love Friday's at work - it's so relaxed, it doesn't feel like a normal work day.

Anyway, I'm so excited about the weekend, because my Mum is coming over to help me finish the curtains I'm making for my bedroom - but also, she's bringing with her some goodies she picked up at my Aunt's house a couple of weeks ago.
You see, my grandmother died when my Mum was only 15 and Mum's oldest sister inherited all of her lovely plateware, linens etc. As you would all know - I love love love old old things. Maybe part of the reason is I think it brings me closer to people like my grandmother who I never met. So I'm so so super excited to see what treasures my mummy is bringing me.

And the other reason I'm super excited is I ran into my favourite vintage store owner at woolies last night and she said she's sourced a fabulous cream and black vintage floor lamp for me!! I can't wait to go check it out on Saturday.

I'll take lots of pictures!

Blue door

Gorgeous. I think the paint brings out all the beautiful wood work in it, don't you think? I don't think it would look anywhere near as fabulous if it was stained.

New Brisbane Markets!!

Oh my goodness - totally loving Brisbane! How can you not, the sunshine, the people and relaxed atmosphere - and fabulous new art and design markets popping up all the time. Make sure you check out this new market later this year!

Shops I'd like to visit - Part 3

Reason I love Brisbane no. 85 - awesome shops like this!! Oh my goodness, all Brisbanites get down to West End and check out Nook! It's a little 'nook' of a shop showcasing some of Brisbane's indie artists and designers. They also have a blog showcasing all the treasures available in their store.

Photo's from another great creative site based in Brisbane the finders keepers.

Too exciting!!

My desk

 Hi Lovelies,

Just wanted to post a little picture of my desk, which has found a home in my craft room (which isn't quite finished yet). It was one of my best vintage finds this year. It was white, but I sprayed it glossy black and put those crystal drawer knobs on it. I love it!

A wedding from a different view

Isn't this a great photo? The bridesmaids with their pastel-matching tights and heels - the exploding meringue of coordinating tulle on the hem of their dresses! But it's the little boy with the bride that gets me! Too cute.

Shops I'd like to visit - Part 2

Ink & Peat in Portland, Oregon is combines a mix of modern, vintage and organic design. The light, airy displays, the flowers and timber accents is really getting me! And I love love love polished concrete floors. Check out their design blog housemartin.

More creative workspaces

Via the henhouse blog . Loving EVERYTHING about this room!
Next time I restore a piece of furniture, I'm painting it pink!

I love looking at people's creative spaces! Yes, I'm still thinking about how to decorate mine, I'm sitting in here right now.... I've got my desk in, the wardrobe (even a bed - ideally it wouldn't be in here, but there's nowhere else for it). When I get it a bit further along, I'll post some pics.

Weekend inspiration...

Hi Friends,

Yes, I may be blogging on a Saturday night - but we've finished painting the spare room today (also known as my craft room or she-shed and maybe one day a nursery). I did all the painstaking trims around the doors and windows. But now I'm looking for a bit of interior inspiration. ... What do you think about this place? Possibly a bit too cluttered for me, but I'm loving the feel of the place, the colours, textures and just its general whimsical spirit!

I love the random garland in the pic above and the wall piece which looks like some old doors.

I like the rustic feel of this kitchen and how it's slightly eclectic

I thought I might have enough china, this makes me want more!

Confused (but still feeling the love)

I'm so glad I found these photos. I really needed to feel the love (although, I have to say, my husband is being so fabulous - making me breakfast without me requesting, picking me up from work - I love you baby!!)

Anyway, I digress, you see, I'm in a bit of bind. I've been offered an opportunity at work to progress to management level, but I'm just so not sure whether it's what I want and whether I can deal effectively with all that extra stress and responsibility. arghhh.... I'd so rather be at home all day doing crafts and making cupcakes and trying to get pregnant. But in the absence of being able to do that, is that enough of a reason to put the brakes on my so-called (and partially unwanted) professional career?? I guess I'm worried that it will take up too much of my spare time, the time that I want to spend with my husband, my puppies, doing yoga, cooking, writing and crafting. Help!

Making the mornings easier

Wouldn't this make choosing your outfit each day easier?
